Large areas respond well to washes of pale colour, and the
versatile pastels will mix and match with the greatest of ease. Be adventurous
with 'opposites'. Yellow and purple translated into pastels become primrose and
the palest violet; two shades that are perfectly attuned. Use them
adventurously with white as the go-between as in this combined kitchen/dining/ living area.
Then experiment with upholstery design by spattering lemon cotton with violet
fabric paint for a loose cover for an easy chair.
